Every one of us has goals, small or big, but we all have them. While it is easy to look forward to smaller goals, it becomes very difficult to track the bigger goals. When the goal is small you can easily visualize it as the start and end points are clear. The problem is with the bigger goals, it gets difficult to track the progress, it does have a clear start and end point, but there are a lot of points in between that diverts your focus making it difficult to keep things on track.

Small goals vs big goals

If you think of it visually, the above image shows the difference between a smaller and a bigger goal. The starting and end points are A & B, in the bigger goal you are done with more things but still it is difficult to connect the tasks together.

So, we have understood the problem, but how do we solve it? The answer is simple, just plan better, plan the flow and break down the bigger task into manageable tasks. Think of the bigger problem as a combination of small steps, you finish one step and you start the next step from where you end. With this approach you have a manageable end goal in front of you. You will see the next goal when you are done with the step which is necessary to finish before that.
