Initially, it might just seem like a personal preference as you are the one making the choice, but soon you will start realizing a few things. The fact is, browsing the web is much more than just visiting a few websites, it’s an experience, it’s your flow, it’s the way you have customized your browser to work for you.

Switching the default web browser is almost like changing the system. You have to start fresh, there are so many sites that you were logged in to and now you have to log in again. Ok, no issues you can log in again, now using one service you realize that it links to another service, now you have to log in to that service. So far so good, trying to make the transition. What about this site now? You have no idea your password was which cat’s name. Within a few hours, you will start to realize that it is not just about trying something different for some time, but it is about changing the way you consume the world wide web.

A web browser is a habit and an ecosystem of tools that everyday evolves with your usage. Making a shift to the new browser is more about unlearning the things that you are comfortable with and giving up on the convenience you have with your previous browser. Although you might be able to find most of the popular extensions in all the browsers, that is a lot of work for a simple choice.

Every browser is different in its own way and trying to make this shift from Google Chrome to Safari a few days back, left me with this thought, that how difficult it is to change the way I have been using the web with my web browser. If you ever faced similar challenge, do share your experience in the comments section below.
